Our clinical team:

Cara
Speech Language Pathologist - Principal
BSpPath (Hons), MSPA, CPSP
Cara is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and the director of Talk, Read, Grow. As our own team grows, Cara spends more time supporting our speech pathology team through clinical supervision.

Cara strives to provide an evidence based and individualized service. She is passionate about children achieving functional communication and literacy skills. She works closely with families and support teams to equip them to best support their child's communication.

  • Studied at the University of Queensland, obtaining a Bachelor of Speech Pathology with Honours
  • Experienced - Cara has worked as a speech pathologist for over 8 years, in private practice, private and public schools and the health system 
  • Trained in Sounds~Write and has a special interest in supporting children with literacy
  • Stays up to date through regular professional development - most recently completing PD on Gestalt Language Processing and Natural Language Acquisition and PODD Books (Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display)

​When not working, Cara enjoys arts and crafts, taking adventures with her husband and their two dogs and reading a good book. Cara can't live without... coffee!

Cara works clinically on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week.
Hayley
​Speech Language Pathologist
BSpPath (Hons), MSPA, CPSP

Hayley is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist who  trained at the University of Queensland, graduating with Honours. Hayley is a senior speech pathologist, who has previously worked in North Queensland for the Education Department and Bush Kids, before joining us in early 2023.

Hayley has completed lots of additional training including:
  • Early language - Hanen's 'More Than Words' Program
  • Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) tools such as PODD (Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display) certification
  • Nuffield Dyspraxia Programme for Childhood Apraxia of Speech
  • Literacy - Hayley is also a trained Sounds Write practitioner

Hayley is a calm and kind therapist, who enjoys working with children. She has a special interest in supporting speech sound development.

​In her down time, Hayley loves going to the beach, reading, listening to podcasts and cooking. Hayley can't live without... fancy cheese!

Hayley works Monday to Thursday each week.

Amelia
Speech Language Pathologist
MSpPath, MSPA, CPSP

Amelia is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist who joins us in 2024! Amelia completed her Masters of Speech Pathology at Griffith University. Prior to training as a speechie, Amelia was a teacher, working at an International School in Fiji. Her interest in speech pathology was sparked when she worked in learning support, and she is keen to continue working directly with families.

Amelia has a special interest in oral language, and brings with her valuable knowledge on the school curriculum.

In her spare time, Amelia loves to read. She also enjoys spending time at the beach (snorkelling and paddle boarding), and travelling - to try new foods and learn about different cultures. Amelia can't live without... green tea!

Juno
Speech Language Pathologist
MSpPath, MSPA, CPSP

​​Juno is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist who also joins us in 2024! Juno completed a Masters of Speech Pathology at Griffith University. She is bilingual, speaking fluent Mandarin and English. Juno is well studied, completing tertiary degrees in the Arts and Applied Linguistics before deciding on speech pathology. Juno even holds an Advanced Diploma in Interpreting. She is well placed to provide services to multilingual families.

So far, Juno has a special interest in working with speech sound difficulties and disorders. 

In her spare time, Juno enjoys bushwalking and is interested in astronomy and paranormal phenomenon (think UFOs). Juno LOVES cats, and hopes to have one as a pet soon. Juno can't live without... fresh fruit!

​Juno works with us full time, from Monday to Friday.

Tara
Speech Language Pathologist
BSpPath, Hons, MSPA, CPSP

​Tara is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist who completed her studies at the University of Queensland, graduating with Honours after completing a research project. She has worked in education since graduating, at a number of primary schools. Tara is great with children - one of her past jobs was as an early childhood educator and she is a mum of three!
​
Tara has completed her Sounds Write training, along with the  PODD introductory workshop through AGOSCI. She has a special interest in supporting children with their speech and literacy development.

In her down time, Tara enjoys experimenting with gardening  and getting outdoors - 4WDing and camping with her family. Tara can't live without... black coffee!

Tara currently works Saturdays each week.

Vivian
Registered Music Therapist
​BMus(Hons), Grad.Dip in Arts, MMusTher, A.T.C.L, RMT
​
Vivian is a Registered Music Therapist, holding registration with AMTA. After graduating with a music degree specialising in composition, she became intrigued by the idea of therapeutic benefits of music on humans. This inspired her to study a Masters in Music Therapy at the New Zealand School of Music. Vivian is a skilled pianist who also sings and plays guitar.

Using a client-centred approach, she is able to make meaningful connections with children through music, leading to the emergence of positive outcomes.
Vivian is warm, calm and friendly and has many years of experience working with children with disabilities or additional needs.

As well as music therapy, Vivian has been teaching piano for 20 years! She is bilingual, speaking English and Korean fluently. Vivian is a mum of two young boys who keep her very busy.

When not working, Vivian enjoys spending time with her family, composing, singing and accompanying at church band and choir, listening to music and podcasts, reading, and going to Pilates. Vivian can’t live without... Kimchi and K-dramas! 

​Vivian joins us on Mondays and Tuesdays from November 2024. Spaces limited!

Cathy
Teacher & Sounds Write Practitioner 
Diploma of Teaching, Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education

​Cathy is a Primary School teacher with a wealth of experience supporting children with their learning. Cathy has worked as a teacher in local schools for over 30 years! Her teaching career has included roles as:
  • Classroom teacher
  • Learning support teacher
  • Support teacher for literacy & numeracy

Cathy has a passion for literacy, and she is now keen to apply her vast experience to helping children and young people with their literacy skills, in an intervention setting. We are lucky to have her as part of our team. 

Cathy is trained in Sounds-Write and offers small group and individual tutoring/intervention. 

When not working, Cathy LOVES reading books, spending time with her big family, and taking day trips in beautiful South East Queensland. Cathy can't live without... strong coffee!

Cathy currently works Tuesdays each week, during school term time. Please note Cathy is currently on holidays until Term 1 2025.

Shae - Administration & Allied Health Assistant (AHA)

​Shae joined our team as an Administration & Allied Health Assistant in training. Shae is a trained Sounds Write Practitioner and can support our clients with learning to read and spell! Shae is also currently completing her Certificate IV in Allied Health Assisting.
She has a warm and caring nature and we know your child will love working with her. 

In her spare time Shae loves playing soccer, spending time at the beach and playing her guitar. 

Shae works Mondays and Thursdays each week.

​Cate is our office organisation guru, and keeps things running behind the scenes. She is also your main point of contact when you call or email us. Cate can assist you with your new client intake, invoicing and any ongoing questions you have. 

When not working, Cate enjoys drinking bubble tea (she is an expert on where to get the best boba) and relaxing. She loves animals and nature.

Emerly - Administration Assistant 

​Emerly is an enthusiastic Speech Therapy student who supports us with all things admin. Emerly has a bright and bubbly personality and can assist with all booking and ongoing therapy questions. 

When Emerly isn't at work or university, she loves op-shopping and craft!
